Cemetery Postcards aka Recollections of Recoleta Photography / Travel

Call me weird, call me a kook, but I have this thing for graveyards/cemeteries. I love browsing, the same way you would browse in a bookstore. I love working out ages, looking for clues to help me build a picture of the person’s life before they moved on. In addition to this I love the aesthetics of the place, the angles, the light, the carefully placed single flower against a grey background. A gloomy winter’s afternoon wandering round Recoleta cemetery in Buenos Aires created the perfect backdrop for these photos, which were all taken on iphone, many using the panoramic feature. The additional draw of this cemetery is found at number 88, the number everyone was repeating to themselves as they walked round. This plot is the final resting place of Eva Duarte, the actress who went on to become Eva Peron, and finally Evita. Her remains have been moved around a bit over the years but finally went in the Duarte family grave some years ago.
